You have inspired us to hit S.Boulder Creek this week. Would it be safer (to avoid road closure) to take Flagstaff Road to the Dam Road? Also, how much public/fishable water is down there?

Those “brook trout” you were catching were most definitely bull trout or dolly varden and one of the harder species to come across here. You have absolutely nothing to be disappointed in and just caught a different type of resident fish than planned.
